Phragmicompostage®
Treatment of sludge from waste water treatment plants
Phragmicompostage® is a technique using sludge drying reed beds to dehydrate and mineralize sludge from intensive waster water treatment plants (e.g. activated sludge) or septage from on-site sanitation. It is a natural technique that is quite popular in Nordic countries like Denmark where installations of this type treat sludge in stations with a capacity of over 100,000 Persons Equivalent.
Advantages
- Enhanced sludge drying, comparable to centrifugation (over 25% dry matter)- - Reduced operating costs, easier to use than classical processes
- -Sludge reduced by 40% through mineralization of organic matter
- -In harmony with landscape
